Quote of the Day: 'Do something today that your future self will thank you for.' -Anonymous Goals: Morning Class: For morning class we had questions and possibility's. To start the class we watched a video on what ethics are. We then watched another film called "The three Gorges dam in china". We spoke about it is the 3rd largest dam in the world and how it is doing good things and bad things. For example the good thing is that is produces clean energy but it is also creating landslides and putting wildlife at risk. We then moved onto splitting into groups. We were given a topic, my groups topic was on orange bellied parrots and turbines. We then had to come up with a one minute presentation. My presentation spoke about how the parrots are flying from Tasmania and then they migrate to southern Victoria. They then fly through the turbines and die, and there are only around 50 left in the world. I also said that humans are putting more and more turbines up so more parrots are dying. They are only thinking about getting power they did not think about moving to a different spot. Afternoon Class: For afternoon class we had LLP (Local learning project). Where Alicia and Selina ran the class. LLP is where we have a primary school come in and each group of us have about 4 kids at a time and we have to teach them something. My group of four decided to teach them about the local indigenous culture. We are going to build a hut before they get here and then they are going to help us finish it off. We then will talk about the different mobs and the foods they eat. Evening Class: For evening class last night we played the dating game. WOW!!! Now that is a game we will never be playing again. The game was you have 3 people out the front and then 5 groups. We got given ten questions and we had to tell the people out the front our answers. They would then choose the one they liked the most. The reason why it is called the dating game is because the five groups are in love with the people out the front and the group with the most votes at the end gets all 3 of them. NEVER TO PLAY AGAIN. (😂) Daily Reflection Challenge: I think Madz has done well in her remembering and writing. I like how she manages to remember things and get them down in an entertaining way. Maybe she could explain a bit more on the dating game, and maybe include where the Three Gorges Dam is, but other than that, awesome! Well done!

Quote of the Day: A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor. Goals: Morning Class: Morning class today was surfing 1 with Mr. Dooley and the learn to surf team. We got down to the beach and got our boards, helmets and wet suits on. The waves were AMAZING, they were perfect for surfing. They first let us go into the water and have a go for 5 minutes, then we came out and they spoke about the technique. You could either jump straight us or slowly bring yourself up with your knees. I used the jump straight up way, because I thought it was a lot easier. Once we all had the technique we jumped back into the water. I stood up almost every wave. I rode down the drop standing up, all the way into sore. Then we came in for morning tea, which was apple cake. (YUM). When we got back out, there was a lul in the waves for a while. But once the set came back the waves were massive, We all caught lots. Mr. Dooley was really good it looked like he didn't even have to paddle, he just got straight onto the wave. Once we were done we had to pack up and head back to campus. Afternoon Class: For afternoon class we had Photography with David Tatnall. We used film camera. He took us down to west cape, and we took some AMAZING photos. We took a few on the rocks, the pier and on the sand. I had a little trip on the rocks and grazed my ankle, but we could not go home without someone being hurt. Once that was all cleaned up I went for a walk along the rocks and there were star fish everywhere. I put one on my forehead and Mr. Tatnall, laughed. He spoke about having all the right lighting and the speed of the shitter. Evening Class: For evening class last night we had David Tatnall showed us some of his beautiful work. He spoke about all the adventures he had been on through photo's. He had some really beautiful pieces of work, there was one where he had stopped on the side of the road on morning when the sun was still rising and there was fog everywhere he took on through the trees and it looked superb. That was an example of having the right lighting. Daily Reflection Challenge: The good things that have happened to me this week was completing the expo. I was such an amazing experience and I had the best group of friends to encourage on another. My highlights this week have been riding home from the expo. Because our team worked really well them, because we were all so tired and we all supported each other the hole way. 3 things that I am grateful for this week would be:

Quote of the Day: Tomorrow is often the busiest day of the week. Goals: Today we left the school at 8:30am, with our big hiking packs on (witch properly weighed more than me), and set of down the road to start our expo. We walked through the bushes and out onto the road, then we got to the beach and walked 15kms along the beach, until we stopped to have lunch, on some really pretty rocks. The hike was exhorting, I had bruise on my collar bones and my hips. But apart from that it was pretty fun. Once we had lunch we packed up and walked up and around cape Conrad until we came to our camp sight, were we sure 1B. We set up our tents and walk 100m down to the beach and sat a reflected on our day. When we were walking back to the tents we found a tick on Jess A, and it's head was in her arm. I was gross. Once we got back to camp we all help make nachos for an entire, they were delicious and then we made our dinners. I made dinner with Liesel and Mirella, we had carbonarra, it was so good. Mr. Dooley and Miss R dropped in after their surf to say hello and tried to eat our food. They asked if we were having fun and if it was hard. Once we had all eaten we got our thermals one and did our teeth and went to bed. During the night there were possum's everywhere. I had my pack done up really well but the possums somehow got into our tent and took my expo slice that I had not eaten any of and eaten it and done everything back up. I thought our team worked really well together we all supported each other and made sure that we were all doing well. The team goal was to communicate efficiently, I thought we all did and really good job at that because we all spoke to each other and made sure we were all doing well. Daily Reflection Challenge: The challenges I faced this weak would be one the expo. Because I found it hard to keep hiking none stop because I don’t see myself that strong and because we were walking through the sand I found it really hard. I have had to show a lot of strengths and resilience this week by the expo because it was a tough expo walking thought] the sand with a very heavy bad on your back. But I thought that I did and really good job at staying positive and not letting that get in my way. 😲😊😝 Date: 20/02/17
Quote of the Day: "One child, one teacher, one book and one pen can change the world" Malala yousefzai. Goals: Today we had to set a goal for our expo. My goal is to support others when they are struggling or finding it hard. This will relate to social awareness because I have to look out for others and be aware. Strategies to help me succeed my goal is by:
Morning Class: For morning class I have expo prep. We had to get ready for the expo we have were we walk about 10ks on the beach and then we ride about 28ks back. To start the lesson we got our tent partners organized, I am sharing a tent with Mirella. We had to back our pack, but we had to put our big garbage bags in them so they were water proof. My bag I fool, if there was a snake in front of me and if I started to run and fell backwards I would not be able to get up, I would be stuck there like a turtle one it's back. We had to get the rest of our gear witch was our, sleeping bags, tents, pegs, trangies, sleeping mats and our jobs that we have. The first day I am in charge of the hygiene, so I have to carry toilet paper, hand sanitizer and soap to wash the dishes with. For the second day I am the welfare. Afternoon Class: For afternoon class we continued on with Expo prep. We had to get our tents and take them outside and have a practice with setting them up. Our tent is quite easy to set up the pole that goes through the middle was a little bit tricky but apart from that it worked well. We them used our trangia's. They were really cool to use but a little scary because you had to light it in a hard way, and I nearly got burnt. Once we had tried all the equipment, we came inside and looked at the maps. It looks like a nice track that we walk and rise along not to many hills. But the view is AMAZING. Evening Class: For evening class we watched a movie called, "He called her Malala", I really enjoyed this movie because, Malala stood up for what she believes in, and will not stop until her dream has come true. She is a really powerful speaker and is so resilient, because she keeps trying and never gives up. Date: 19/02/17
Quote of the Day: None of us are a smart as all of us. Morning Class and Afternoon class: For morning class we had leadership conference. We split in to three groups that were then rotated between classes and teachers. I was in green group. We had Mr. O - Hagen first, we spoke about what a leader is. I said for example Someone who takes responsibility or someone who is a good role model. Then we watch a film with different leaders and the music in it was called Affirmation. We were given a task where we had to right down any person in the world we would want to have dinner with, and we were allowed to choose 12 people including ourselves. The people I wanted was my Mum, Dad, 3 sisters, Sally Pierson, Harvey (old dog), Toni (year 6 teacher), Nana, Pa and Mamma. I would choose these people because they are all a role model to me and because I love them. To finish the half an hour class we did a leadership Qualities ticking sheet, so we had to tick questions to what we thought we were as a leader. For the next class we had Mr. Gladstone, to start the class we had to do a puzzle in groups my group was done first. Then we explained why we thought we were done first. For example we thought we were finished first because we worked together and spoke to one another. Then we spoke about leadership styles, some were, Autocratic, Democratic and Relaxed and we spoke about what environments you would use them in. We then spoke about the five practices of exemplary leadership, the five are, Model the way, so being a good role model, showing a good way or just by treating people how you want to be treated. Then there is a shared vision, so Encourage people to achieve the same goal, next was Challenge the process, Embracing different ideas, change things or be opened minded, next us Enable other to act, so helping others, push people and give confidence and then the last one is Encourage the heart, so positive feedback, positive energy and smile/little things. His main point was to be happy toward this and to be positive. After this we were given a great speech said by, Beau Vernon. He told us his story. He is now a quodripleadiric Evening Class: For last night's evening class we had spirit spot. So we walk up to the sand dunes and find a quite spot to sit by ourselves. We had to reflect on our week so far. Date: 17/02/17
Quote of the Day: 'A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.' -Lao Tzu Goals: Morning Class: For morning class I had Cultural Diversity. To start the class we watch a short film on how some people can treat each other's on a tram. There was a person from a different country on the tram called Ibrahim, then there was Sue who was a bystander and then there was Rob he was being racist to Ibrahim just because he was not white. We watched the film once and then we watched it 2 more times but looking through Sue's eyes and Rob's eyes. We saw how different everyone can be towards different people, and that you don't judge someone just because of the way they look. Then we played a game were there were engineer, journalist and Derdians. The Derdians spoke differently to the Australian's because when they wanted to say no they would nod there head and say " yes yes yes yes" and to say yes they would just go "yes". To greet each other you had to kiss one another on the right shoulder and you would always have to be touching them if they were speaking. I was a Derdians. But the engineers had to help us build a bridge because we didn't know how to but the thing is the girls from Derdia could not touch scissors and the boys could not touch sticky tape and rulers, and the journalist had to figure out how the Derdians worked. This game taught us all that we are all different and that we can all work together even if we are from different countries. Afternoon Class: For afternoon class I had Question and Possibilities. In this lesson we learnt about POOCH which stands for Problem, Options, Outcomes, Choose and How did it go. I really enjoyed this lesson because we learnt about silly decisions and how to approach them. We spoke about how to approach somebody if they came up to you with a difficult question and how to help them and yourself. Evening Class: For evening class last night we had PPL. PPL is about our portfolio, our portfolio is our weebly account, so when we leave SRC we can look back at everything we have learnt and experienced. But for the class we had to write a poem or a rap of how SRC has been so far. My poem was: Snowy is great But there is no snow My friends call me mate And the food is great I have been riding my bike And surfing the waves Sitting watching the long summer days Waiting for the perfect time to capture the rays. I really enjoyed this activity because I pushed me to think outside the box, and see a different way to right. Daily Reflection Challenge: I think Madz has done well in her DEARR, and she has described everything very well. Also, she is very good at remembering pacific things, like how we played the games and why. She is also very good at poems, a lot better than me! She does well in the way she writes up about her day. Well done! Date: 16/02/17
Quote of the Day: A wise person will make more opportunities that what they find. Goals: My goal today was to become more aware of others. Today I had bridge building. It was AMAZING!!. To start the lesson we wrote down our team goal, our team goal was "Work effectively as a team by communicating and planning". Then we had to go through all the safety instructions and how we have to be careful of one another. We had to build a tripod, to start the bridge, then we had to add three pieces of wood across so we could stand on it, then we made two more just like it. But the hard part was when we had to get it into the water, we were not allowed to touch the water, and there was a fiber glass boat sitting in the about 5 meters from the shore, and we had to reach it without touching the water. We got the first part of the bridge into the water, and then we had to put the second piece it was not to hard we just had to sign it around so it was facing the boat. Once we had both bit into position, a few people got onto the bridge and we had to work together to get the third bit out without touching the water, it was difficult. Once the bridge was in place we had to reach out with a piece of rope and hook it onto the boat it took a few try's but once we got it there was treasure, the treasure was not very exciting, they were plastic toys but each of us had to grab it ourselves. Evening Class: For evening class last night we had Ranger Amelia come in she speak to us about the cape conran river. She spoke about the mouth of it and how people get annoyed when it close's because they can't fish there. She also spoke about how people are complaining about their jetty, because the rangers try so hard to keep it clean but because it is next to rocks it gets sand and seaweed all over it so they have to go down there and shovel it all out. Quote of the Day: It always seems impossible until it's done. Goals: Morning Class: For morning class I had metacognition. To start off we did a memory game, called memory challenge. On the screen they had a colored shirt with somebody's name under it and a piece of food, we could look at it for 45 seconds and then we had to wright down the once we remembered. I remembered four out of 7. Then we did it again but with different colures, food and names. For the second time around I got 3 out of 7. For the second memory challenge they showed up and equation, for example the first one was, "16 double it -5 divided by 3 times 4 half of it divided by 3 times 8 double it +5. We had 30 seconds to work it out, I did not but for the people who want to know the answer it is 101. Then we did another one and I did not get it either. Next we spoke about different bits of the brain, we split into groups and mad a robot out of our self's in someone's brain. Our team did it so there was a convaerbelt, then the bottom people pass up what was on the convaerbelt witch in our case it was effort so we passed that up to the brain to give it effort, so the body could do things it wanted to do. Afternoon Class: For afternoon class I had Self-awareness. In this lesson we learnt about our top five strengths, mine are appreciation of beauty and excellence, Bravery, Love, Teamwork and Gratitude. I agree with the top five but I would have thought love would have come closer to the top. Then we spoke about ABCD, ABCD stands for Antecedents, Beliefs, Consequences and Do. This means for example, "David asks a girl he liked to a party, but she says she it too busy this week." That would be A. B would be " She must think I'm boring or ugly", C would be " despondent and unhappy" and D would be "David stays at and mopes." That would be the story if David had bad thoughts, feelings and actions, but he had good thoughts, feeling and actions he would have been a lot happier. That taught us that you can change your moods and somebody else's moods just my smiling or doing something simple. Evening Class: For evening class we had a guest speaker come in, his name was Jeff Forthys. He spoke to us about anxiety and what it means and how to handle it. I was a great talk because he answered so many questions that we all had. He said that if you can feel yourself getting anxious, you can either breathe or focus on something else that makes you feel happy and relaxed. Daily Reflection Challenge: The challenges I have faced in the pass we has been settling in, I had found it quiet hard to settle in and find my balance, but I now think being here for a week and a half I have started to settle in better. The steps I took to overcome this was by putting myself out there and keeping myself busy. My friends Tam, Izzy and Ella have helped me out a lot this week because they have been there to support me had we have become really good friends. Date: 14/02/17
Quote of the Day: They always say time changes things, but you have actually have to change them yourself. Goals: Today I had canoeing, so I did not have a morning class and an afternoon class. To start of the day we had the abc film team come in and film what we do in the mornings, and then they followed us to the river where we were canoeing. Before we lest campus we had to make ourselves sandwiches to take because we would be gone until 4:00pm. When we got to the river we had to unload the canoes and all the safety equipment, we needed. My partner for canoeing was Leisel. To start of I had my thermals on with my gortex pants on, my flees and also my gortex jumper. Once we were all set up had our life jackets on and our hats we went in. Mr. Dooley showed us and few paddle strokes to help us move around easily. Then we had to rarft up, which is holding onto each other's canoes. Once we had our practice we had a race from the entrance to Mr. Dooley then back to the entrance do 3 spins and then go back to Mr. Dooley backwards, Liesel and I came 4th. Then we went for a long paddle through the river it was so beautiful. Mr. Dooley needed a few leaders the first leader was to take the lead Max D and Ben took that role then we had the time keeper which was Catherin, then there was Jess who had to make sure everyone had their hats on and we keeping hydrated and then I put my hand up to be in charge of the environment, my job was to make sure everyone had put there rubbish in the container. Once we all had our roles we set off down the river it was so beautiful, we had our first NAM . About 5 minutes after we had started. Once we had come back from our about an hour and a half paddle, we had lunch, and told riddles, some of the riddles we really good. The one that Jess said was "It starts of red, then you cut it in half and then it's blue, then you cut in half again and then it's pink" it took us all a long time to figure out what it was. It is $20, $10 then $5, we all thought that was a good one. Once we had lunch we had to get into our wet clothes I just had my bathers on and kept my thermals on. We got back into the water we did cap sizing. It was so fun. We all got into a raft and the end person sat in front of us and they rocked there boat until they cap sized. Once they came back up for air they pushed there canoe over to us and we had to sit it on top of us and turn it back the right way then we slid it back in the water and they had to get back in a join the raft again, and then we all did it. Once we all had a go we had to split up and do it just with our partners, Liesel and I were second, once we had cap sized we had to push the canoe to the shore and then we packed up. Once we had all gotten out of our wet clothes we jumped back into the bus and Mr. Dooley played some really cool music. ( A lot of it was the ukulele). Once we got back to school we had afternoon tea witch was ice cream cake in a cone because it was Jess's birthday. Once we had all eaten we put our gators on and went for a walk up through zone 4 and walked through all the bike rakes. Evening Class: For evening class last night we had goal setting with Mr. Morton, he spoke about his kids and how they make goal. We had to set a goal about bridge building, my goal was to take a leader ship goal, to help me achieve this I would have to take in other people's ideas and put myself into the group. Daily Reflection Challenge: The vibe so far in my expo group is really good we are really nice to each other and help one another out. It feels really nice with my expo team because we are all so nice to each other and tell each other to keep on going, and we can do it. The way I have contributed in the community this week is by raking the bike tracks and getting involved. Date: 13/02/17
Quote of the Day: Together everyone achieves more. Goals: Morning Class: This morning we had a class called 'Safe food handling' and it was a short TAFF course about how to handle food safely. I found this class quite interesting, I learnt a lot of new things and what is dangerous, and how to handle food safely. To start off the class we had to fill out a form that was about us and were we live and our date of birth and things like that, once we had filled it out we moved onto a booklet called, Basic Food Hygiene, Learner Resource. The booklet included: food hygiene skills, food contamination, important temperatures and storage, stock rotation and use by dates, food handling and hygiene, effective cleaning procedures, housekeeping, food recall and food safety plans. We went through everything had leant about what it all meant, and then we did a test on it all, and I got 100% first try, I was very proud of myself. Then we made USI number's on the computers, and that would have all our job information on it for when we have jobs. Afternoon Class: For afternoon class we had Miss R and Mr. Den Otter. The class was cultural diversity, to start of we got into our expo groups and we got a few pieces of paper saying things we need and things we want. We had to sort out the things we thought we needed and the things we wanted. Then we shared it with all the other groups. Once we had all spoken about it we went outside and got in a bot circle and we all had to hold a rope, there was a lot of people pulling all different directions, once we had a settled down we had to all pull at the same time and try and sit down, we did it first go then we stood up all together, after that we tried one hands up and down. Tam had to stand on Anthony's knew and she had to walk around the rope while we heled it in the air, she made it the whole way. This taught us to trust one another and to believe in everyone. Then we came inside and talked about what we thought we wanted our community here and snowy to act like, some for example were no judging, inclusive, helpful, caring, loving towards each other. Then we had to sign it on the window, so we all agreed on it. Evening Class: For evening class last night Mr. Mc Cubbin took the lesson and it was THEATER SPORTS. Theater sports miming and stage games. I was so funny to watch. We were split down the room into two's, we were called the US and the other team was called THEM (we did not make up the names Mc Cubbin did), and the winner got a freddo frog each. The games were so funny we all had a turn and miming and acting. But the winner was "DRUM ROLL" the US, there was lots of screaming and yelling. But then Mr Cubbin disappeared and came back with another bag so everyone could have one. The chocolate was delicious, I have not had chocolate for a long time, it just was googy and creamy and delicious. Daily Reflection Challenge: Using ten words to describe myself would be, adventurous, happy, bubbly, active, loving, caring, love family, friendly and non-judgmental. The Questions I wish I new the answers to are, Who gave the names to everything, for example who named the chairs, chairs, why are they called that not tables? My other questions is how come people find it so hard to leave there family's and others don't? I believe that you should always tell the truth, no matter how small or little it is. The coolest thing in my universe is that go can go so far from home but always find your way back. Be yourself and no regrets! |
