My Story
My name is Madison, I was born in Victoria, where I live I am surrounded by beaches and different people.
At school I am very determined to do my best at everything, and try my hardest. At home I help out with my parent and do some of the house work that needs to be done, so that they don't have heaps of things to do when they get home. In my spare time, I am either at the beach patrolling, being active, playing music or just being with my family.
I have a big family, there is my mum Kylie, who is now a nurse and a photographer, my dad Will, who is a farmer but he used to work off shore a lot, then I have my 3 little sisters, Mackenzie, Murphy and Milla.
My family traditions are, every Christmas we either, have Christmas at our house, with my dad's side of the family or we have it at our nana and Pa's house. Another family tradition is every new year's eve we go and watch the fireworks down at the beach, and have a little picnic and listen to some Christmas carols. The family traditions are very important to me because it means I get to see my nana and pa every Christmas and I get to spend more time with my family.
I have a lot of friends, they are all so important to me because they are all so different and we all connect in different ways. My friends are very quirky and have similar interest as me.
My role models are my family, I have chosen my family because they are there for whoever needs them. My mum is a role model for me because she has followed her dreams and achieved her goals. My dad is a role model for me because he can drop anything for anyone one and help them when they need it. My sister Mackenzie is a role model to me because when she was 8 she had open heart surgery and she was so brave throughout the whole process, she is also a very strong girl and I know that if she puts her mind to something nothing will stand in her way, and my two little sisters Murphy and Milla's are role models to me because they are the youngest of the family and they are very strong girls they are very helpful and nice people.
My beliefs are that you have to be nice to someone if you want them to treat you nicely back. I also believe that having family, friends and people around you that love you is great, because they can encourage you and help you to succeed in your best. My values are you have to work hard to get what you want, and that it doesn't come easily. My beliefs and values affect me because I love having people around me that love me and support me for what I do. For example my family are always supporting me through everything I do if there is an opportunity they tell me to take it because you will never have the chance to do it again. My beliefs and values come from me and listening to what other people say and then taking it in and making it come from me, so I have my own twist on things.
I have been to many beaches but I have also gone with my family in our caravan up the middle of Australia to the gold coast and then we came back down to Victoria but instead of going through the middle we went down the coast. We saw some AMAZING things, that I have never seen before, there were so many different camp sites and beautiful red dirt.
Something that I am very proud of is when my sister Mackenzie had to have open heart surgery when she was only 8, she had to go into hospital with mum and dad and she had to get her heart fixed because she had a hole in it. She was very brave and strong. But when she got home we had made a welcome home sign for her and we had the whole family there together to welcome her home. Another proud time in my life was when I came 2nd at states for race walking. Something that has shaped my life is my parents family, they have been through thick and thin with me, they have always been there to support me had I could have never done anything without them.
Some of the most difficult times have been when my dad went into hospital for pancryer tites and when my mum went to hospital for appendicitis, they were both hard times in my life because I didn't want anything to happen to them because they are my best friends and my parents. Another difficult time in my life was when I had to say goodbye to my family to come to snowy river for 8 weeks, I found that really hard because I am always with them and we do everything together. This has taught me to be strong and that everything happens for a reason.
To get to snowy river leadership school was a very hard process, I had to write and page of why I wanted to come and what I thought I would get out of it, and if the teachers liked my application I had to have an interview of why I wanted to come.
I really wanted to be involved in the snowy river leadership school because it is a once in a life time opportunity, and to learn amazing new skills and meet new people.
