Today we started our three day expo adventure. To start the day we finished packing and we left school at about 8:40am. We walked through zone four and over to spirit spot, up the big sandy hill with our packs on, and then we finally got to the beach. We walked along the beach for about 5 and a half kilometers. Though out that time he were singing and talking. On one of the stops Liesel and I really needed the toilet, so we climbed up the sand, and did our business. Mr. Dooley also asked us if we could see the river, so we went for a little walk to try and find it. I could see a little bit of it so that meant that the group would nearly be where we had to climb up the hill and to river. We walked another few meters, and then we came to our stop. When we got to the river we walk some more. Mr. Dooley showed us a fruit, (bush tucker). He didn't know the name so he calls it pigs face. He showed us the fruit and Tom and him tried some. Tom said it was delicious. We never found another one to try. We then came into Marlo and walked along the bush until we came to the Anglesey club. We stopped and had lunch there. Lunch was raps. They were pretty good. We then loaded the canoes that had been left in the trailer for us. We put them into the water and canoed over to the camp site. The wind took us the whole way so we didn't have to do much paddling. Liesel and I were together we worked really well. We then reached the camp site. We set up and got changed. We walked down to the beach once everyone was set up, and did our revue of the day. Mr. Dooley then came up with the best idea to play food and water. I got very hot very fast because, I had my thermals on and my gortex and then my beanie. On the second round I jumped into the bush and somehow cut my knee. I do not know how because I had so many layers on. We then headed back to camp and had dinner. For dinner I had creamy risotto. It was all right. But it was not the best. We then did our teeth and went back down to the beach and played another game. I am not sure what it was called. But there is someone standing in a little circle with a ball. Everyone else hides and if you are found you are out. But the person "it" can only say your name when they are in the circle, and then everyone else has to try and get the ball from the circle before she says your name. With this game a group of us went to the top of the hill, and we yelled out 1,2,3, and we all ran. Catherine was it and she thought that I was Ben so she was saying his name, and I one because I got the ball. We then played again and I of course got hurt again. I was hiding behind some old plants, they were not very big, and Max. D was "it", and when I ran I forgot that there were plants there so I ran straight into them and face planted. I found it really funny. We then laid in the start for 1 minute, and watched the starts. I was beautiful. I saw a settle light and the moon was so bright. Jess A and I shared a tent together. We had a great talk before we went to bed because we still had a lot of energy left. We then finally fell asleep.

Quote of the Day: "Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much". Goals: Morning Class: This morning for meeting class I had PLP, which is Personal Learning Project. We have to choose an area that we think we can improve on. For example Metacognition or Self-awareness. To start the class we had to wright in our vision for what we want to accomplish by the end of this experience. I said that I want to be able to stand in front of a crown, and speak clearly and confidently. I also said that I want to be resilient, and be able to stand strong and brave. We then said three things that we have found hard so far. My three things were:
Evening Class: For evening class last night we watch a movie called, "North of the sun". It was about two men that walk to there paradise place, (they did not tell us where there spot is). They are sufers and made a house out of rubbish that was found on the beach and then the roof had snow on it so it kept them a little bit warmer. But they were surfers. They cleaned up the beach. But it was really cool because when they were there the sun did not come up until the second half of the time they were there. They surfed in the light and dark, and the water was really cold. Quote of the Day: Goals: Q1. The highlights for me on visiting weekend was seeing my family and hanging out with them. It was so much fun. I showed them around and were I have been and seen. We went surfing, walking and we also went swimming. Q2. After reading my letter to self, I think that I should have been I a positive mind set, and should have focused on the good things, not the bad. Advice I would give my past self is that this camp is great the people here are AMAZING!!, and that I can do everything that I sound I couldn't do. I am a lot stronger now and I have courage and resilience. Also I proved my past self wrong, I am great at making new friends. Q3. The things I would have changed in the first weeks would be, focusing on the positives, and making the most of, also not count down how many days are left because it makes it worse. In the first 4 weeks I should have had more conference in myself, especially in the first 2 weeks. Q4. In the next for weeks in want to go home as a young confident, resilient, brave and positive leader. I want to be able to stand up for what I believe in and make a difference. I want to be a leader, be a strong person and follow my dreams. Daily Reflection Challenge: My proudest achievement for this past week, was when the surfing instructor said to me, that I should enter a surfing compertion. He also said that I was really good and I had the perfect technique. I was proud of that because I have never really surfed before, and that he thought that I was that good. The leadership opportunities that I am going to take on, are for expo on Tuesday, on the second day (Wednesday) I am going to be the leader of the group and I am going to decide everything. I have never really taken on a job like this before, so I am a little bit nervous but excited. Date: 3/03/17
Quote of the Day: "If you focus on results, you will never change. If you focus on change, you will get results." Jack Dixon Goals: My goal today as student leader was to work on my social awareness. Strategies to achieve this would be, making sure everyone is involved and having fun. Morning Class: Morning class today was sustainability. To start the class we played a game of human norts and crosses to get moving. We then watched a video on mother nature. It said the nature doesn't need people but people need nature. We then made an economical footprint on line, all we did was answer a few questions and it said what we used the most. After morning tea we went outside into the vegetable garden and we worked on that. A few of us were weeding while others were making plant beds. I was putting cardboard down in the vegetable garden so the weeds would not grow back. I was so much fun, it then started to spit. But then it got quite heaving and we had to finish class early, which was annoying, because I really enjoyed working in the rain and on the garden. Afternoon Class: For afternoon class I had surfing. The waves today were pretty messy. It was all very messy, but I still had the best time. One of the instructors, said that I was really good and that I should enter a competition. I was really shocked to hear that because I thought that I was not THAT good. I had a lot of fun and I can't wait for next surfing experience. Evening Class: For evening class last night I had expo prep. In this class we mapped out where we are going for expo and the duties we are doing. For the second day I took on the role of being the leader of the group, and step out of my comfort zone. For the other days I cannot remember what I am doing. This expo goes for 3 days and we walk, canoe and walk up a massive hill. Daily Reflection Challenge: Madz has done well describing her classes and her feeling towards them! She has included many details that just make the day sound better and be more entertaining to read. While I don't know much about surfing, you were doing really well, especially as it was really choppy. Well done! Date: 2/03/17
Quote of the Day: There is nothing permanent except for change. Goals: Morning Class: This morning we had PPI (Personal progression interview). Where we have an interview with our liaison teacher, (Mr. Dooley) About how we are going so far at SRC. We talk about our goals and our weebly and if we are keeping up with all of our work. To start the class we got in order of who was going to go first and last, I went third. For the start of my interview, Catherine came in my feedback buddy and spoke about how she thought I have grown and how I have been travelling. She then left and Mr. Dooley said to me that, he was talking to the teachers and they all said how they think I have changed so much since day 1, and that I am blossoming, and finding my own way. I have become independent. He spoke about how he thought I was going and then I spoke about my goals, and then my weakness. Afternoon Class: For afternoon class I had CLP (Community Learning Project). This lesson we got quite a bit done. We made lots of calls and we spoke to people that we really needed to speak to, for example that council, Nepean netball, all the local netball club and the shire. We all got an answer from them and we are moving really fast with our CLP. Evening Class: For evening class last night we had a guest speaker come in. Her name was Toni Radsure. She is a police women, and she spoke to us about sexual harassment and the law. In this class I learnt a lot of things I did not know, and how to hazel it. Daily Reflection Challenge: The good things that have happened to me this week was meeting new people and becoming close with them. Also getting though my interview. My highlights this week have been, LLP day because that was a really cool experience, teaching young kids about the local indigenous community. Three things that I am thankful for are:

Quote of the Day: Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get. Goals: Morning Class: Morning class was PPI (Personal progression interview). It means that we have an interview with our teachers and Mr. Dooley would be mine, and our feedback buddy's come in at the start and read a page of how they think we are going so far. To start the class we spoke to our feedback buddy's on how we like we are going and then we wrote a page on how we met them and how they are going so far. We then did some things on our weebly and made sure it was up to date. Afternoon Class: For afternoon class we had social awareness and management. We spoke about controlling our conflict and what conflict is. Conflict is where you don't agree with someone, or you both have different opinions. There are lots of different types. When then went outside and played a game, where you and your partner put your hands on each other and leaned against each other, and she who could push them over first. We then played tug of war, my team did not win once and we played three times. (hahah) Evening Class: For evening class we had an indigenous night. In our school groups we searched up our dreamtime story's of our own community and the people's clans name. Our people's clan's name is Bunnirun. Daily Reflection Challenge: The challenges I have faced this paced week, was teaching the little kids. I found that hard at first because I didn't know if they would enjoy it our hate it. Steps I took to over come this was by just saying that they will love it because if I was in primary school I would love to sit in a hut, and play games. The people that have helped me out this week was Holly, Orana and Oliver L. They helped me out this week by including me, because I wanted to make more friends and they have included me and now I am friends with their friends and so on. ☺😄😃 Date: 28/02/17
Quote of the Day: Goals: Today we had LLP (Local learning project). This means two schools came here to SRC and we were all in groups and we had to present to them. We also got buddy's. My buddy's name was Jasmine. She really liked Athletics and her favorite sports were discus, high jump and The walk. I was so surprised because it was so cool that she liked walking and I am a walker! They arrived at 9:30am, we played a get to know you game, were we went around the circle saying our name, favorite color and favorite food. We then were put into groups called Seagulls (Me), Seals and Dolphins. Seagulls started a class about fire safety ran by Abus, Tao, Dylan and Oliver H. We learnt about STOP DROP and Roll, we then played a few games and moved onto Expo skills. It was ran by Harley, Jeromy and Charlee The kids learnt how to pack the sleeping bags and how to pack there day packs we then took them into Zone three and showed them about snake bites and how to treat them. The next class was Beware reef. It was ran by Jess A, Jess M, Amy and Mirella. They talked about beware reef and how ship wrecks used to crash into it and there are lost treasures out there. Then it was my group. We spoke about the local Indigenous community called Gunikurni. I my group there was Bridie, Catherine and Liesel. To start the class we gave them all a gum leave and they had to put there bad spirits into them and then through them away. I them spoke about the dream time story's and how there are good ones and bad ones. I read out one about the pelican who created the clans and one about the Den of Nargen, which is where the indigenous people don't go because of the bad spirits. When then said our good byes. Evening Class: For evening class last night we had LLP prep, so we had to work on the last little bits of our presentation, and make sure we were all ready for today. Daily Reflection Challenge: So far this week we have not worked in our expo groups this week. But other wise we are all working together well. Our team when we do work together we all work really well together and we all get a say. We all look out for each other and make sure we are ok. Date: 27/02/17
Quote of the Day: In order to succeed you must first learn to fail. Goals: Morning Class: For morning class today core 1 had an indigenous walk and sailors grave on the beach. The talk was with Kylie (the chief here at SRC), Sue (Kylie's mum) and Buzzy (Sue's brother). They all spoke to us about the local community of Gunikurni. Gunikurni is the local community of east Gippsland. Three things that I learnt during this talk, was 1. That the stolen generation stopped in 1973. 2. You were not allowed to marry your own clan because it was like marrying your sister or brother. 3. When the whites first appeared in east Gippsland there were 500 aborigines and by the time the whites went through far east Gippsland there were only 9- left. I really enjoyed listening to them all because I love hearing there view on life and how they lived. During the class there was a massive goanna walking straight past where we were all sitting and Sue was so scared she was getting ready to sprint off. Afternoon Class: For afternoon class we had LLP 2. We had to finish of our plan to present to the kids who are coming in tomorrow. Mr. Gladstone mad a Mai Mai witch is a hut made out of sticks, that the aborigines lived in. We then put rope in the door like a spider web so when they enter they have to try and get through without touching the rope. We then finished our skip for what we are saying and then did a run through. Evening Class: Afternoon class last night was ran by 1B. We played Family Feud. I was on the Odd team because my number is 1. I played in the fast money bit of the game. But our team lost and the Evens one. Daily Reflection Challenge: A list of questions I want to know the answer to is: Why does time fly when you're having fun, and why does the sun attacked to me. Date: 26/02/17
Today was rest day. It was on a Sunday because core 2 got back from expo on Saturday. In the morning I went surfing with Orana, Holly, Alicia and Selina. I was a little bit choppy but still so much fun. Near the end I had to use my lifesaving skills because Selina got hit in the arm by her board and then the waves kept coming, and her board was pulling her. So I had to bring her in with Mr. Dooley because she could not breathe properly. We then all came back to campus and then a group of us went canoeing. It was so windy on the river! Selina and I were together and we nearly capesized. It was so funny Evening Class: For evening class we watched rabbit proof fence. It is about the half ccarst kids that were taken away from their parents. I really enjoyed watching this video because I taught me a lot, that I didn't know. Daily Reflection Challenge: Right now I feel really happy and like I am at home with people that love me. Date: 25/02/17
Quote of the Day: Trust takes years to build seconds to break and forever to repair. Goals: Morning Class: For morning class I had CLP 1 (Community learning Project). In this class we decided on our final idea for our CLP. It is so refurbish the toogarook netball courts. But because it will cost so much to do 6 we are going to do 1 and maybe they will realize that it is safer with new ones so they will do the rest. For proceeds we are going to hold and netball day on the foreshore and hold netball games on the beach. We will have food stores and a BBQ. We then moved onto who we had to contact and how much it would cost. We have to contact a lot of people. But we all think that we can do it. Afternoon Class: For afternoon class we had social awareness 1. In this class we first spoke about who you would tell a secret to. Some of the things we came up with was, close relationships, trust, not judging, accepting, friendship and empathy. We all thought it was import that if you told some a secret they would do all thoughs things. We then spoke about our open self, blind self, hidden self and unknown self. An open self is something that you know about yourself and others know, blind self means that others know something about you but you don't, hidden self means, information that you know but others don't and unknown self means, that you don't know something about yourself nor do others. Evening Class: For evening class last night we had 5 factors of health. To start the lesson we all got in a circle and did an aerobics type of warm up to get us moving. We then spoke about the 5 health factors. They are physical, emotional, intellectual, social and environmental. We spoke about how this is important that you have to stay fit, have a positive attitude, and the right mind set, be social and don't just sit inside, enjoy the environment. Daily Reflection Challenge: My proudest achievement for the past week would be completing the expo. I was so proud of myself for putting myself out there and pushing myself the whole time in expo. The leadership activities I have taken one this week is by taking the lead in expo, when we were on the bikes, because I held the pace out the front and made sure everyone was ok. |
